Privacy Policy
xGenie LLC (“we”, “us”) built Standby as a local-first application. This policy explains what data Standby handles and where it goes.
1. What stays on your machine
In local mode, all of the following data is stored locally:
- Task definitions, goals, and status
- Run history and execution logs
- Recorded shortcuts
- Pairing tokens and extension state
- Configuration and API keys
Local-mode data is stored in a SQLite database at ~/.standby/standby.db and configuration at ~/.standby/config.json.
2. What is sent to Anthropic
Standby is Claude-only. When a task runs, Standby sends the following to Anthropic — using your own API key in local mode, or via Standby Cloud’s managed access:
- A screenshot of the current page
- Visible text and interactive elements on the page
- Tab titles and URLs in the task workspace
- The task goal and recent action history
In local mode, this data is sent directly from your machine to Anthropic using your own credentials. In Standby Cloud, the data needed to run the managed service is processed by Standby Cloud and sent onward to Anthropic. Your use of Anthropic is governed by Anthropic’s privacy policy.
3. What we collect
In local mode, we do not operate servers that receive your task data. In Standby Cloud, we receive and store the data needed to authenticate you, pair the extension, run tasks, and show task history in the managed service.
4. Cookies and tracking
The Standby website does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels.
5. Data deletion
For local mode, remove the ~/.standby directory and uninstall the Chrome extension. For Standby Cloud data, contact [email protected].
6. Children
Standby is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
