Privacy Policy
xGenie LLC (“we”, “us”) built Standby as a local-first application. This policy explains what data Standby handles and where it goes.
1. What stays on your machine
All of the following data is stored locally and never sent to us:
- Task definitions, goals, and status
- Run history and execution logs
- Recorded shortcuts
- Pairing tokens and extension state
- Configuration and API keys
Local data is stored in a SQLite database at ~/.standby/standby.db and configuration at ~/.standby/config.json.
2. What is sent to model providers
When a task runs, Standby sends the following to the model provider you configured (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google):
- A screenshot of the current page
- Visible text and interactive elements on the page
- Tab titles and URLs in the task workspace
- The task goal and recent action history
This data is sent directly from your machine to the provider’s API. We do not proxy, log, or have access to these requests. Your use of model providers is governed by their privacy policies.
3. What we collect
Nothing. We do not operate servers that receive data from Standby. We do not collect analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or usage statistics.
4. Cookies and tracking
The Standby website does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels.
5. Data deletion
All your data is local. To delete it, remove the ~/.standby directory and uninstall the Chrome extension.
6. Children
Standby is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
